Autism Awareness Day – It’s Time

“Individually we are one drop. Together we are an ocean.” Autism Awareness Day is observed on the 2nd of April. I am so glad to see so many moms and bloggers join in this all-important issue. It’s important to talk about it, understand it and help others join in too. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Parents to an autistic child don’t need a village. They are doing an amazing and commendable job on their own. However, they do need understanding and helpful people around. Those who don’t judge and make it uncomfortable for the parents and the child to venture out safely, without any fear…

Fun With Legos- Lego Movie 2

So, I would have to regretfully admit that despite our best of efforts, Aira is a little spoilt when it comes to toys. The reasons behind this are many – maybe her being a single child or the unabashed love of her grandparents, or having more resources, or the bombardment in the market with new toys, or maybe that we are living our child through them. The point being, she has way too many toys. Most of them are useless piles of junk – which she had to have, at one point of time, but now lays untouched in the corner for months. However, there are a few that are…

    Yes, I am a Stay-at-home-mom !

So let me start by putting it out there – this is not a blog about Working Women VS Stay-at-home-mom. None of us got it better! We all are struggling and surviving. This is a post about my life and my choices. “So, what do you do?” A simple question…, that people ask whenever they meet and greet each other. But a question that would lead to sympathetic smiles and those little nods patronizing me, when I would say, “I am a stay-at-home- mom.” “You are so lucky ! I wish I could stay home and do nothing!” Now it’s my turn to return a patronizing nod and a smug…

    IRA- Your Guide to HIV

HIV- These three letters strik fear like no other. Nobody wants to talk about it, or even acknowledge its existence. So, what is HIV? It is a virus that attacks and damages the immune system, increasing the risk and impact of other infections and diseases. If left untreated, the infection might progress to an advanced disease stage called AIDS. Did you know there are 2.01 million people still in India who live with HIV, or that there are about 80,000 people who get infected every year? The overall stigma & prejudice associated with the condition marginalizes the infected. The ones infected with this are treated as outcasts. The reason behind…

Pulwama Attack – Here’s How You Can Help

I have been meaning to write about this for the past two days now. But what do you really write when something so tragic strikes the country? We lost so many of our Bravehearts in a blink of an eye. While I was busy in my day-to-day routine, something so terrible happened in Pulwama. My soldiers…….my country. I saw the news hours later. I was saddened to hear of this attack, had tears in my eyes……But then I switched off the television, cooked food and slept.I am sad. Truly I am. But at the same time, I am ashamed. I feel so shallow and superficial. It’s so easy to write your…

KLAY Prep School and Daycare- Li’l Folks Festival

Robert Johan Meehan once said “Every child has a different learning style and pace. Each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding.” This is exactly the philosophy of KLAY Preschools and Daycare. As a first time mom, I had a million-and-one fear. The thought of leaving my little one in the care of strangers was scary, to say the least. The paranoid mom that I am, I must have visited ten preschools in my vicinity. However, my visit to the KLAY Preschool put an end to this frantic search. Everything just clicked. The teachers, the staff, the environment- it’s all that one would want for…

The Day I reached #1 on Mompresso as a Blogger

I have always had a love for reading and writing. Growing up English used to be my favorite subject and I used to love those exercises where we were given free reigns to our imaginations and asked to be a character and write accordingly. All of this got buried under the layers of ‘growing up’. I had a job and loved it. All the free time was spent on family and fun. However, when i decided to take a break from my career and stay home with my daughter, I decided to rekindle my love….writing. I wrote here and there. Sometimes, I wrote about my day-to-day routine with a hilarious…

Sutatva Golden Glow Face Serum- Elixir in a bottle

So, I know this sounds super vain, but I have always been blessed with good skin. I had no hand in this… it’s all thanks to my dad and his super awesome genes. He is one handsome guy- pink cheeks and a glowy skin. People always compliment him and he enjoys all the attention. Well, I inherited the same from him. Growing up, I never cared or worried about my skin. The most that I ever did was to put on some lotion and that was it. I never ever used a sunscreen or followed any skin-beauty regime. I sailed through the first thirty years of my life, with least…

The G.T Road- The Food journey

So, We are food lovers. And we love our buffets! Especially the barbeque places. People often make fun of us, saying that since we are vegetarians, there is really nothing for us. They are so wrong ! The fare is just as widespread for us so-called leaf eaters. We decided to visit the G.T Road outlet, the family buffet restaurant at Ambience Mall recently. Its located on the fourth floor of the mall. We were welcomed by an ever-smiling host who ushered us to our table. The concept of the place is to serve you lip-smacking dishes inspired by the cities on the real GT Road! A 2600 km gastronomic…

    Love Is Love…Period

Today I believe in – Love at first sight, puppy love, love sees no size,…..and all the rest. So my dog-Boots, went to the park with me, happily wagging his tail at the world- enjoying the sunshine and the attention he was getting from everyone. Suddenly, among the sea of humans, he spotted a little terrier- maybe it was a chihuahua? She was 1/4th his size and a hairless being. Well, as soon as he lay eyes on her- our doggy just lost his head. He literally dragged me to this miniature-toy-dog, wagging his tail with a speed of 60kms/hr. Alas !! His feelings were not reciprocated. This little Diva…
